The finest speakers in the world are a medium for the music, an open window on the original performance. They take us from the mundane to the magical, beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. They are a reflection of character. Not the sonic character of the speaker, since speakers claiming to be the finest must be devoid of acoustic personality. Rather, the finest speakers are an intimate unfolding of the songwriter's mood, the composer's message, the director's vision. Signature Technology - Signature High Frequency Drivers ::
In designing Signature's high-frequency driver our objective was clear-to move significantly beyond anything currently available. Since the tweeter's task is that of a flawless piston, constantly in motion reproducing thousands of cycles per second, choice of dome materials was critical. Particularly when we considered the exacting performance standards demanded of Signature speakers. Yet why change completely that which has worked so well in the past. The overwhelming success of our award-winning Paradigm Reference Studio speakers is a testament to the musical and acoustic integrity of our pure-aluminum dome tweeters. Instead, Paradigm engineers set to work significantly refining our pure-aluminum dome. The results must be heard to be believed.

The deep gold-anodizing process used on the dome produces an exceptionally rigid dome, without adding mass. What emerges is a detailed, incredibly true and transparent high-frequency presentation. Power response is immediate, with lightning speed and instantaneous reproduction of transient information. Integrity of the upper harmonics is completely intact and the tweeter's uncanny accuracy and high-frequency articulation is a decided advantage in an era of extended bandwidth formats.

Until now even the most innovative tweeter technology was found wanting when it came to eliminating the smallest of internal resonances. By contrast, Signature tweeters yield an audiophile's dream-clear, uncolored and completely uncompromised high-frequency response.

Signature Technology - Signature Midrange Drivers ::
Uniform midrange performance is the foundation for great sound. In developing Signature drivers, the challenge for Paradigm engineers was to generate supremely accurate and highly predictable frequency response from our very high- output designs.

In designing our midrange drivers, what followed was an extraordinary feat of engineering, incorporating a host of highly advanced design features (as outlined in the following pages). One example of this is our rear chamber (a stunning illustration of audio design at its most innovative), which plays a crucial dual role.

Tooled to critical tolerances, the chamber's exterior is an ultra-efficient heat sink-large, strategically positioned cooling fins rapidly transfer heat away from the driver~s motor. The interior of the chamber, however, is where the magic of Paradigm engineering is revealed. In much the same way a listening room with similar wall and floor dimensions can negatively affect sonic performance, a symmetrical chamber behind a driver will encourage standing waves, coloring the sound we ultimately hear. The Signature midrange chamber boasts our proprietary ATC~" Asymmetrical Tapered Channel. Its purpose is not only to provide optimal and predictable internal volume. The asymmetrical dual tapered channels break up and disperse standing waves before they can stray, or bounce back into the driver cone and cause sonic mischief.

These superbly engineered drive units deliver extraordinary midrange performance-smooth, natural, accurate and balanced, with astounding detail, unprecedented clarity and greater authenticity than anything that has come before.

Signature Technology - Signature Center Channel Drive Units ::
In the speaker design process it is essential that sound from the left and right front speakers blend as perfectly as possible with that of the center channel. Not only are these three speakers the heart of a music system, they are also key players in a home theater. Front speakers reproduce off-screen dialog, sound effects and much of the music, while the center channel delivers on-screen dialog, sound effects and music. Perhaps more than any other speakers in a music or home theater system, this trio must be designed and engineered to integrate seamlessly. Consequently, Signature center channels enjoy the same state-of-the-art technology that is used with such success in Signature front speakers, modified, of course, to suit the center channel's distinct role.

Achieving optimal sound from our center channel required a physically integrated approach-as you can see, both tweeter and midrange driver are contained within a one-piece low-profile die-cast aluminum faceplate. In concert with innovative Signature technology, this unique configuration produces an unprecedented uniform frequency response across a wide listening area. It also provides the same precison and accuracy as that of Signature left and right speakers, ensuring extreme timbre matching.

Signature Technology - Bass/Midrange & Bass Drive Units ::
MLP™ Mica-Loaded-Polymer Bass/Midrange Cones: Next-generation cone design combines high stiffness-to-mass ratio with superior internal damping for exceptionally accurate, smooth, uncolored frequency response and unparalleled freedom from unwanted resonances and coloration.

Mineral-Filled Polypropylene Bass Cones:
Superior stiffness-to-mass ratio with critical internal damping. Precision engineered for high-sensitivity, high-power handling and ultra-low levels of distortion.

Massive Computer-Optimized Magnet/Motor Assemblies with Focused-Field Geometry and Superior Shielding:
Leading-edge breakthrough design/technology allows the use of massive ceramic/ferrite-composite magnet/motor structures (3.6 kg / 8 lb each in the S8!) yielding extremely high output, remarkably low distortion and excellent power handling. Superior shielding allows for flexible placement.

High-Pressure Die-Cast Aluminum Chassis with AVS™ Cooling:
Exceptionally rigid design eliminates mechanical flexing and ringing. Heatsink chassis and AVS™ Airflow Ventilation System cooling boost power handling while ensuring ultra-low distortion and greater reliability. Chassis are CNC-machined to ensure precision fit.

Lightweight Long-Travel Aluminum or Copper Voice Coils:
High-temperature, rigid low-mass voice coils wound on ventilated Kapton® or Apical™ formers guarantee superb accuracy and reliability.

Signature Technology - Signature Servo Subwoofer ::
The sheer physical demand of reproducing deep bass notes along with formidable output typically leads to a huge driver in a very large enclosure. Not very practical for today's living spaces!

Signature Servo follows a different design path. Our powerful high-excursion bass driver with massive computer-optimized motor structure is paired with our patented Ultra-Class-DT amplifier. The driver boasts an extremely rigid proprietary RCR~cone-able to respond instantly to the leading edge of changing bass notes. The super-efficient amplifier supplies very high power output-1200-watts RMS (FTC), 4500 watts of Peak power! And behind the scenes, controlling the driver's operation, is our patented state-of-the-art Closed Loop Servo system-precisely tracking the input signal to ensure incisively accurate bass, while reducing distortion to inaudible levels.

The Signature Servo is accurate to an astonishing 10 Hz! In a typical listening room it can reproduce a staggering 123 dB without audible distortion. It is truly an amazing engineering achievement! Bass performance is so clean, so true, so transparent that only the vivid realism of even the deepest or most delicate bass note remains-the source of the bass, the Signature Servo, simply disappears.
