Mitsubishi Home Theater | HDTV Upgradeable Television Features
Mitsubishi home theater is pleased to bring you our full family of
HDTV Upgradeable televisions and displays for that perfect digital
entertainment system. For Mitsubishi, HDTV Upgradeable products are
simply that premium-grade TVs that are capable of displaying How images
with all the depth and resolution one would expect from this new technology,
plus the ability to connect external HDTV tuners to access these signals.
As the leader in digital television. Mitsubishi has been in the
forefront of this important revolution, developing key technologies
designed to ensure the highest possible performance and maximum
enjoyment of your entertainment system. For our selected HDTV Upgradeable
products, the following are the most important of these key technologies.
:: PerfectColor™
Until
now, one could adjust only tint, a simple tradeoff of red
vs. green. To get more green, you must accept less red and
vice versa. And conventional tint adjustments provide no
control for yellow, blue, or any other colors. To give the
user more control, Mitsubishi home theater developed Perfectcolor,
an exclusive technology that allows precise color adjustments
for each input and signal. PerfectColor provides control
of six colors which can be adjusted independently. PerfectColor
includes an on-screen color bar chart for easy reference.
In addition, PerfectColor provides a precise automatic color
correction mode. In comparison to conventional “auto
color” features, the PerfectColor automatic mode can
better sense and correct for the differences among channels.
It was designed specifically for the customer who watches
a wide range of channels, where no single color adjustment
setting may be satisfactory.
:: MonitorLink™
HDTV Upgradeable means the ability to display high definition TV (HDTV)
images with the connection of an external HDTV tuner This capability
has been further enhanced in all our new models with the addition of
MonitorLink, a proprietary digital interface. By connecting Mitsubishi’s
new HD-5000 HDTV Receiver / HDTV Controller to this input, the HDTV
is upgraded to the full capacity and performance of an integrated high
definition television. The HD-5000 also provides Mitsubishis exclusive
NetCommand home theater control system, with the ability to manage
P-controlled products as well as the latest digital products connected
via FireWire’ (IEEE
1394). It is Mitsubishi’s new upgrade promise!
:: NetCommand® IR
This
exclusive Mitsubishi home theater feature provides the user
with a true one—remote control home theater system for analog products.
NetCommand IR provides on-screen control of analog-connected
products such as your AV receiver, DVD player, satellite
receiver, and VCR. To set it up, you simply “tell” the
television what products are connected and “teach it” their
IR (infrared) commands. The TV will then take control, eliminating
the coffee table clutter of remote controls. It’s capable
of learning most IS remote control codes from standard home
theater products, rather than relying on a preprogrammed
library of codes.
:: AMVP’M (Advanced Multimedia
Video Processor)
Selected HDTV models feature a new breakthrough in digital video processing.
This Mitsubishi-exclusive IC (integrated circuit) is responsible for
three critical image processes. First, it creates all the various format
and multi-image modes that you may want for each signal type and source
(widescreen, standard 4:3. stretch modes, split screen, Picture-in-Picture,
and Picture-out-of-Picture). Second, it superbly converts low-resolution
analog television signals to higher-resolution images for display at
near-HD scanning rates. This conversion is known as quadrupling — both
the vertical and horizontal pixels are multiplied. It not only converts
still and slow-moving images, but also fast moving images, including
those with horizontal, vertical, and even diagonal motion. And to round
out its functionality, this circuit provides dramatic improvements in
digital noise reduction. Combined into one IC, it sets new standards
in video purity and performance.
:: MicroFine™ 3 CRTs
The
red, green, and blue cathode-ray tubes (CRTs) are the engines that
illuminate most large rear projection TV screens. Their ability to
create bright and sharp images is key to the TV’s overall performance.
This year Mitsubishi is introducing our MicroFine 3 CRTs in many new
models. MicroFine 3 CRTs outperform others in three areas:
(A) Beam focus: A new electron
gun provides a finer beam that illuminates a smaller area
on the face of the CRT to create sharper edges and details.
(B) Phosphor grain: Smaller, rounder phosphor granules
create a finer image texture when illuminated, particularly important
when displaying high definition images.
(C) Reduced image scattering: Unwanted reflections from
the illuminated phosphor granules are suppressed, reducing the fringe
area around each reproduced picture element.
:: DefinEdge VSM™ (Velocity
Scan Modulation)
VSM
is a high-performance digital circuit that dynamically
adjusts the CRT scanning speed to allow for clean edges
and color transitions. It slows down horizontal scanning
when making sharp transitions in brightness and color and “catches
up” during the simpler parts of the picture. Mitsubishi’s
DefinEdge provides a similar picture improvement, but in
a different way. DefinEdge constantly and instantaneously
adjusts picture sharpness. increasing it when the picture
is complex and reducing it when it’s not. Because
VSM and DefinEdge are complementary, Mitsubishi combined
them and provided the ability to turn them on and off together
by input. DefinEdge VSM is unsurpassed in its ability to
improve the transition from dark to bright or from one
deep color to another.
:: QuadField Focus
OuadField Focus uses opposing magnetic fields to narrow the diameter
of the electron beam in each CRT This results in a smaller illuminated
area as the beam reaches the face of the CRT This finer spot size creates
a higher-resolution image, enhancing the quality of standard video
(4800, progressive scan (480p), and HDTV pictures.
